PINK DAY @ND!
|
together for the day from Chaplain Wayne, students continued to show their enormous spirit. Pink cluttered the stands and the crowd went wild, especially from the sudden return of the Kilt Krew and our school teams.
Once the pep-rally finished, the annual walk-around of the field began. Although, it didn’t give the Senior boys too much luck. The game began at 12 and Oakville was already up 2-1 in the second quarter against our boys. By the end of the fourth, the final score was 9-1 for Oakville. The boys played their hardest and absolute best, but couldn’t manage to defeat the strong team. Before and after the game, they held their heads high with Irish pride and hope to come back and destroy their next game. It was a shame for the weather, but Notre Dame continues to be proud of both football teams for their hard work and talent. Good job boys!

ND CROSS COUNTRY SHINES!
By Leanne Young
Congratulations to the Cross Country team for an excellent end to another amazing season! Last week at the Craig Kilburger Invitational (Pre-GHAC) at Hilton Falls Conservation Area, the team landed many top finishes and brought home 3 medals! Luke Mawhinney with bronze in the senior boys 7K race, Rebekkah Pyle with silver in the senior girls 5K race, and Maya Gonsalves with bronze in the junior girls 4K race. The team went on to GHAC (OFSAA qualifiers) last Friday with more potential than ever. Competition was intense as only the top 2 teams and top 5 individuals from each race will continue onto OFSAA next weekend. This year, 2 runners will represent ND at OFSAA: Rebekkah Pyle (4th in GHAC) and Luke Mawhinney (4th in GHAC). Also a special shout out to Maya Gonsalves who was only one spot away and Kayla Overholt (midget girls 3K) for placing only two spots away from making OFSAA! |
Great job and great effort from our girls, as well as round of applause for our junior boys team who placed 6th (Joe Bugiardini-24th, Gabe Millar-26th, Peter Su-43rd, and Mitchell Glennie-53rd)! Each year as we gain new, awesome runners, we also lose some. As the end of their last season arrives, we bid a warm farewell to our grade 12 senior girls headed to university next year (Kate Dingle, Rebekkah Pyle, and Leanne Young).
Personal remark to Mr. Sneyd, Ms. Messinger and the team: Thank you for an amazing four years with everyone, it's been a tough but great journey both on the trail and spiritually, and we have all accomplished so many "feets" (feats). We will miss our rainy practices, annual game of capture the flag, and Mr. Sneyd's puns and jokes. Best of luck to our runners at OFSAA and hope to see both new and old faces again next fall! #GOIRISH
