MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This year we asked the Notre Dame Community "What is your favourite part of the Christmas Season"... Below are their responses!

Christmas is my favorite holiday! And, this Christmas will be especially heartwarming as my eldest daughter returns from university life away from home, my father-in-law joins us from Montreal, and my parents have a full bill of health. There are so many things to be thankful for, but none greater than the company of loved ones and the cheer and laughter of family and friends! Thank you Lord. 😊
Mr. Cordeiro

What I like most about the Christmas season is seeing family during the holidays, or drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies.
Jillian Duncan

I always enjoy the time with friends and family I also enjoy the time to read and organize my closets!  I usually take the time to sort clothes and linens. I also enjoy bonding with my dog, Ziggy.
Mrs. DeSantis

Spending time with family.  Observing family traditions like Christmas Baking day, Midnight Mass or outdoor Christmas Day games (reigning Ladder Ball champion here!) are great but so is taking the time to relax with both close and extended family you don't always see and appreciate having the time to do it.  PJ days to watch favourite movies...or binge-watch newly acquired series also add to the joy of the season.
Ms. Typer

What I like best about Christmas is how the “season” brings people together and that all are filled with joy.  When I see our school community coming together, helping those in need out, cheering each other on during our Christmas talent shows, when I get together with family, that is what I like best.
 God bless,
 Mr. Shaw

I love the festivity and kindness that goes around (if only people would be super kind and giving all year round). I also love being with my family and seeing the smiles on their faces Christmas morning. There're always working and so stressed, it makes me super happy when they smile during the Christmas season.
A.A

What I like most about the Christmas season is spending time with my family, my family and my cousins family have a tradition every Christmas, each Christmas my cousin and his family come over on Christmas eve and they spend 1-2 weeks with us. I love this tradition and hopefully it goes on for many years more.
P.B

I like getting together and celebrating with all the people I am closest to. Also, I love all the great food we get to eat! The excitement my kids get out of the advent calendar chocolate and countdown to Christmas is also fun to watch:)
 Mrs. Kerwin

I like the time with family, Christmas songs and all the old Christmas Specials!  Snow Miser is my fave!
Mrs. Callaghan

During Christmas season I feel way more laid back and relaxed. It’s way easier to write tests and do assignments knowing it’s December. Everyone feels more together as a community during Christmas season and it’s very welcoming and inclusive to all.

I won't lie,  I've never been crazy about Christmas…  but to see the excitement from my kids makes it hard to not enjoy the season.  I took my kids to the Santa Claus parade,  they're 1 & 3 years old,  and their pure joy and enthusiasm was infectious,  seeing them so happy makes me understand the true meaning of the season.
Mr. Giardina

Traditions
The things you remember doing every year during Christmas. For example, cutting down a tree was a day long event at our home. Breakfast, tree chopping, hot drinks by the fire in the barn at the tree farm and then home with eggnog and treats while we decorate.
Every November I plan a gingerbread house. Draw up the plans and then spend the first weekend in December baking and decorating and assembling with the help of my children and nieces. It’s not always perfect but it brings us together for a really wonderful weekend.

Mrs. Power

I like most about the Christmas season is the nice white snow, hot chocolate, spending time with friends and family, giving gifts and just spending
 M.C

The thing I like most about the Christmas season is that I get a 2 week break that I don't have to spend with Mr. Giardina. Just kidding. The thing that I actually like most about the Christmas season is the snow, the beautiful lights and decorations, and spending time with my family. (Editor's Note: Ouch, my feelings!)

What I like most about the Christmas season is having my family over for Christmas of seeing my family over the holidays. Also seeing my friends and hanging out. I like to see my family and also eat the food that my aunt makes and see my little cousins and all my many other cousins. I like to talk with them and watch our traditional Christmas movies. I like to make ginger bread houses and bury Liam in the snow, also fight over Christmas crackers. I like watching my grandma try to figure out what she got and running around her house with my cousin. Basically I just like to be with my family.
A.G

During the Christmas season I like decorating my house and my tree. I also like when my family gets together for Christmas dinner because we eat good food and I get to see relatives I usually don’t get to see during the year.

I like the vibes of coziness in the season. I love seeing snowflakes fall from the sky onto the ground, I like to see kids playing in the snow, I like to drink hot chocolate and bake cookies while watching my fireplace. I love driving at night during the Christmas Season, hearing the radio play in the car and singing all the lyrics.
E.W.

I like the presents, the time I spend with my family, and eating my moms food.
L.Y.

The fact that everyone doesn't care about the whole Jesus' birthday thing and it's not religious and just give each other presents and food and stuff for the joy of just doing it. I'm sorry about that, I just have no faith in any religions. I slightly respect them. I just don’t worship anything.

This year is extra special for our household as my 87 year old mum will be here from Scotland  for our first family Christmas together in 25 years. As a child growing up my mum always taught us how important the love of family is and that Christmas time is a time for celebrating the birth of baby Jesus and the importance of keeping his love in our hearts always.

Although there are many fond memories and great traditions about Christmas, I would have to say that my most favorite thing about the season is "TIME".
TIME to:
: celebrate my faith
: have snowball fights
: drive through the country and see Christmas lights
: go tobogganing
: visit and reconnect with friends and family
: stay in my pyjamas all day and play with my kids
: indulge in all the wonderful traditional foods and treats my
family makes (with absolutely no guilt)
: watch movies (new and old)
: snuggle up with a good book
: enjoy a cup (or two) of hot chocolate
: appreciate all the gifts God has given me!
Mrs. Barros

What I like about the Christmas season is that it isn't really cold during this time when it is snowing. I like spending time with family and friends during this season because it is a time to rest and a good break from school.
S.S.

I enjoy playing  Christmas Carols at mass on Christmas Eve; the chance to slow down and relax over
the holiday; and to spend some quality time with family and friends.
